The magnetic stirrer (1), with a heated plate (2), has at least one ventilation shaft (5) running from a wall within the housing (3), running upwards in the working position. Its lower entry opening (6), at the base of the housing (3), is open and leads outwards. Its upper opening (7) opens below the shrouding plate (13) between the upper side of the housing (3) and the heated plate (2) to form an air cushion between it and the upper side of the housing (3). The size of the shaft cross section is selected to ensure an upwards air stream being generated naturally by the thermal conditions. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is a laboratory instrument for magnetic stirring, where the heated plate supports a stirring container. The heat build-up is reduced, in a compact assembly of low height, with a small gap between the heated plate and the housing, without allowing dust and dirt to enter the housing.
