<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably detect and inform a half-inserted state of a toner cartridge in a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a toner cartridge 61 (62, 63) detachably attached to a rotary developing apparatus for a color image disposed in the image forming apparatus body; a position sensor 22 to detect whether the toner cartridge is inserted to the normal position or in a half-inserted state; a door mechanism 41 which is attached as freely opened and closed to the apparatus body and which is provided with a member 44 to push the toner cartridge to the position where the sensor detects a half-inserted state when the door is closed; and a display to inform the state when the sensor detects the half-inserted state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
