Folding volume for transporting fruit and vegetables, of the type comprising a bottom and four side walls which can be folded towards the bottom along their respective lower horizontal edges, characterised in that, there being fitted, at the four corners of the bottom, four feet whose height is slightly greater than the thickness of the four walls folded flat upon one another, a first pair of opposite walls are articulated along corresponding opposite edges of the said bottom, and the second pair of opposite walls are articulated along the upper edges of partitions which rise above the other two opposite edges of the said bottom over a height greater than the total thickness of the first pair of folded-down walls, the total height of each of the four walls being that of a normal crate, the width of each of these walls being firstly equal to the internal distance between the feet of the crate over a height slightly greater than that of the said feet, and then respectively equal to the width or to the total length of the crate over the rest of the height, means being provided to maintain the overall rigidity of the crate when the four walls are in the open vertical position. <IMAGE>
