<p>PURPOSE:To improve the durability of the cover of the golf ball at a low temp. and to increase the initial hitting speed thereof by forming the cover out of a mixture composed of an ionomer resin having Shore D hardness of a specific value and an ethylene-unsatd. carboxylate copolymer saponified resin having the Shore hardness D of a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The cover of the golf ball formed by coating the core with the cover consists of the mixture composed of 99 to 85% ionomer resin having >=60 Shore D hardness and 1 to 15wt.% ethylene-unsatd. carboxylate copolymer saponified resin having 20 to 40 Shore D hardness. The ethylene-unsatd. carboxylate copolymer saponified resin is formed to 2000 to 7500psi (about 140 to 525kg/cm<2>) modulus of elasticity in flexure. As the ethylene-unsatd. caroboxylate copolymer saponified resin an ethylene-acrylate copolymer saponified resin is used.</p> |
