<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage nonlinear resistor for surely preventing surface discharges when impulse currents are applied, and for securing a large discharge resistance. <P>SOLUTION: This voltage nonlinear resistor is provided with a columnar sintered body 11 having varistor characteristics with zinc oxide as the main components, electrode layers 13 formed by spraying electrode materials on both edge faces of the sintered body 11 and side face high resistance layers 12 formed on the side peripheral faces of the sintered body 11. The peripheral edge sites of the both edge faces of the sintered body 11 are formed with coating films 14 for preventing the adhesion of electrode materials to the peripheral sites. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
