<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply identify image defects which occur resulting from an exposure part from among image defects occurring due to factors of the exposure part and other than the exposure part. <P>SOLUTION: Images are formed by moving, in the main scanning direction, an LED print head (LPH) 14 in which light-emitting points are arranged, and images formed are outputted on a recording paper. Subsequently, from among the images outputted on the recording paper, the image having a specified angle to the paper transport direction is read to detect inconsistencies in density resulting from the LPH 14. Then, a correction value of the light-emitting points in the LPH 14 is obtained on the basis of the detected inconsistencies in density.
