<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect a preprint medium being contained in an image forming apparatus automatically and accurately. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer 2 performing additional printing based on print data onto a preprint printed previously based on preprint data, the print designating section 82 at a system control section 8 designates a print control section 38 not to perform additional printing if a preprint inspection mode is selected when printing is executed. In response to the designation, the print control section 38 controls a print section 36 not to perform additional printing but to feed the preprint form idly. An inspecting section 66 compares preprint data acquired as reference image data with data read out at an image reading section 48 from the preprint form not subjected to additional printing. If they match with each other, a decision is made that a correct preprint sheet is selected and contained in the tray of the printer 2 in correct orientation while directing the upside upward. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
