摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the inversion defect of liquid crystal molecules by the use of adhesive particles and to obtain a liquid crystal element which is capable of making good display while having impact resistance by interspersing the inside of a display region with the adhesive particles for adhering a pair of substrates apart a prescribed distance and specifying the angle formed by the adhesive particles and the substrate surface. SOLUTION: The adhesive particles 6 are formed to the grain size larger than the grain size of spacers and are crushed and simultaneously adhere the upper and lower substrates when the upper and lower substrates are bonded to each other. The adhesive particles 6 are so prepd. that the angleθformed by the substrate surfaces, i.e., the surfaces of alignment layers 4, 14 and the adhesive particles 6 attains >=90 deg.C at the section of the adhesive particles 6 after the bonding of the upper and lower substrates to each other. The adhesive particles formed by adhering particulates of surface energy of <=35 dyne/cm to their surfaces are adequately used as such adhesive particles 6. Such particulates are preferably PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene) and the grain size thereof is preferably <=0.3μm.
