PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique superior in performance in light emission and capable of analyzing calcium ion with high sensitivity by efficiently introducing coelenterazine or its analogous compound to a system to be analyzed at the time of analyzing calcium ions in cells, etc., through the use of the light emission of aequorin. SOLUTION: In a calcium ion analyzing method, cyclodextrin is added at the time of analyzing calcium ions by the light emission of aequorin formed of apoaequorin, coelenterazine or its analogous compound, and molecular oxygen. A reagent for analyzing calcium ions formed of a dry solid or liquid mixture containing coelenterazine or its analogous compound and cyclodextrin is used for a reagent for executing the same analyzing method. Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is preferably used as cyclodextrin.
