DNA SYNTHETASE INHIBITOR AND DNA TOPOISOMERASE INHIBITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new DNA synthetase inhibitor and a new DNA topoisomerase inhibitor.

SOLUTION: A dehydrotrametenonic acid (compound 1) is represented by structural formula. The dehydrotrametenonic acid is obtained as follows. Extraction of Hoelen and Hoelen Peel is carried out with an organic solvent such as methanol and solvent fractionation of the resultant extract is conducted with a water-insoluble organic solvent such as chloroform and water. Silica gel column chromatography and reversed phase HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) are carried out to afford the dehydrotrametenonic acid from the obtained organic solvent-soluble fraction. The DNA synthetase inhibitor and DNA topoisomerase inhibitor contain the dehydrotrametenonic acid.
