The invention relates to a method for the optimized control in terms of output and efficiency of three-phase generators comprising a rectifier unit, especially of synchronous machines. At least three ranges of control are defined within which the generator is controlled according to different criteria. Said ranges of control are especially defined depending on the rotational speed and the desired nominal output. The control includes both the excitation current and the stator current and is carried out by various control units exchanging information.
