PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system capable of reducing the capacity of the memory device of a printer and capable of shortening the transfer time of data. SOLUTION: A format used in a printing job is analyzed (S1) and the use state of the format is investigated (S2) and, if necessary, the replacement of down-load data is performed (S3, S4) and the character using the format not loaded down is developed (S5→S6) and the image data of the character using the format thus developed not loaded down to the memory device of a printer and the developing data such as the developing size or developing position of the character using the format loaded down to the memory device of the printer are transferred (S7) and the development of the character using the format loaded down to the memory device and the development of an output image due to the bonding of the image of the character using the format not loaded down to the memory device are performed (S8) to perform printing processing (S9).
