PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make suppressible a motion blur of a moving image in a holding type display device, such as a liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: A step edge detecting section 31 detects the edge portion of a step edge having motion from image data of an inputted frame or field. A correcting section 32 corrects the pixel value of the pixel corresponding to the edge portion of the step edge detected by the step edge detecting section 31 based on a spatial amount of motion of the step edge corresponding to the pixel supplied from a motion detecting section 24. The invention is applicable to a video processing apparatus for controlling the display of the holding type display device, such as the liquid crystal display device.
