The method for letting in water into a laundry treatment machine is conducted in such a way that for preventing a soaking of pieces of washing in the drum (2) when letting in water by water impinging upon an outer wall (16) of the drum, the drum is rotated at a speed which is at least sufficiently high for a centrifugal acceleration on an inner wall (17) of the drum to be at least 1 g. An amount of water is let in which is less than a volume available in the washing detergent container (1) beneath the drum. An independent claim is included for a laundry treatment machine with means for carrying out the said method.
