<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder having an HSK shank, configured to reduce weight while preventing a reduction in rigidity. <P>SOLUTION: In the tool holder, an intermediate member 20 is provided as an extension part between an HSK-A125 shank member 10 and a chuck member 30. The length of the intermediate member 20 is properly set to obtain the holder of an arbitrary length. The chuck member with a cutting tool A mounted by shrinkage-fit, improves its grip, rigidity and rotation balance. The intermediate member and the chuck member, whose outer peripheral faces are formed as circular tapered faces, to prevent interference with a workpiece while securing rigidity. A hollow portion inner peripheral face 24 of the intermediate member is shaped along an outer peripheral face 20' thereof, thereby reducing weight, while securing rigidity.
