A method, comprising: monitoring, by at least one cell interface, a status of at least one battery cell, the at least one battery cell being connected in a circuit, the circuit delivering electrical current to and from the at least one battery cell; sending, from the at least one cell interface to a controller, the status of the at least one battery cell, the controller being communicatively connected to the at least one cell interface and a power interface; measuring, by the power interface, voltage and current in the circuit; detecting, by the power interface, data indicative of whether a ground fault is present in the at least one battery cell; sending, from the power interface to the controller, the voltage and current in the circuit and the data pertaining to the ground fault; sending, from the controller to the power interface, instructions based on at least one of the status of the at least one battery cell, the voltage and current in the circuit, and the data pertaining to the ground fault; and controlling, by the power interface, connection and disconnection of the circuit.
