The rack shaft supporting apparatus (40) includes a support yoke (50), a plug (80), a torsion spring (70) or a spiral spring (470) and a guide bush (60). A plug cam portion (82) of the plug (80) includes three plug cam surfaces (82A). A yoke cam portion (52) of the support yoke (50) includes three yoke cam surfaces (52A) having a shape corresponding to that of the plug cam surfaces (82A). The yoke cam surface (52A) contacts to the plug cam surface (82A). The torsion spring (70) or the spiral spring (470) imparts force rotating the yoke cam portion (52) against the plug cam portion (82) to the support yoke (50). The guide bush (60) includes a bush body (61) and an arm portion (62). The bush body (61) is fixed to the housing (30). The arm portion (62) supports a side portion (14B) of the rack shaft. |
