PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide active material for a battery capable of achieving a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which can exhibit excellent input output characteristics and life property.SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, active material for a battery is provided. The active material for the battery has a mixed phase of a titanium-containing complex oxide phase and a titanium oxide phase.
