<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing barium titanium oxide having an appropriate property corresponding to the intended purpose by melting barium titanium oxide, solidifying under a prescribed temperature condition using a levitation method. <P>SOLUTION: A spherical sample (BTO-C) of about 20 mg having a BaTiO<SB>3</SB>composition is melted and solidified in an electrostatic levitation furnace . The sample is levitated in an air atmosphere of 4.5 atm, the rapidly solidification and the melting process in a 1st embodiment is repeated 3 times (the operation of the sample at about 700 K/sec temperature gradient). After being kept at a temperature directly under the melting point for a fixed time, the remelted sample is rapidly cooled at a rate of 300 K/sec to obtain the blue transparent barium titanium oxide solidified body. The temperature dependency of dielectric constant of the BTO-C sample is shown. The epoch-making dielectric characteristics, that is large specific dielectric (≥100,000 at room temperature) and small dielectric loss (0.1 at room temperature) are exhibited. In the dielectric characteristics are slowly lowered in a temperature ranging from room temperature to 70 K and excellent temperature stability is also provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
