<p>Device for irradiating an internal cavity of the body comprises a distributor for putting together a row of balls including radioactive and neutral balls; >=1 applicator tube to be inserted into the cavity; and a pneumatic feeder with which a row of balls can be loaded into an applicator tube and discharged from it. The applicator tube has an enlarge section leading down over a shoulder to a section of reduced dia. the length of which conforms to that of a row of balls, and the row of balls is locaked in by a ball of larger dia. which cannot pass the shoulder and rests against it making a seal. A sorting, storing and distributing arrangement has magazines for radioactive and for neutral balls connected to the distributor by valves, and a sorter allocating the returned balls to the magazines. Each applicator has an intermediate magazine in which the row of balls is set up and to which they are returned after use. The channel connecting the intermediate magazine to the sorter is so small in dia. that the locking ball cannot pass, but remains in the intermediate magazine. The device ensures that the radioactive and the neutral balls are maintained in position correctly for as long as is necessary. Leakages and the use of large amts. of air are eliminated.</p> |
