PURPOSE:To enable the heat treatment of a steel piece with a narrow width and to simplify a furnace structure, by a method wherein the fixed beam in a walking beam type heating furnace is constituted of one beam and a plurality of skids longitudinal in the furnace width direction are attached to the upper surface of said beam. CONSTITUTION:In a walking beam furnace for heating a steel piece 10, a fixed beam 2 is constituted of one beam and a plurality of skid 3 made of heat resistant steel each having an almost inverted truncated plate shape longitudinal in the furnace width direction are attached to the upper surface of said beam in the furnace length direction while recessed notch parts 4 for preventing the slip of the steel piece 10 are provided to the upper surface of each skid 3. Because the interval between movable beams 6, 6 can be made narrow even if the gap between both side movable beams 6 is same to a conventional beam interval, the steel piece 10 to be heated can be conveyed even if the width dimension W2 thereof is small. In addition, because the fixed beam 2 is one, the structure of the furnace is simplified and the amount of cooling water consumed in the fixed beam can be reduced. |
