PURPOSE:To enable the inspection of cans different in the height and the diameter of the open end, by making the horizontal length of a contactor larger than a half the difference between the maximum and minimum of open end diameter of a sample can to be inspected while the part thereof contacting the open end of the sample can being inspected shall be located below the height of a detecting section of a can detector before the lowering of an arm section. CONSTITUTION:A sample can is placed at a specified position on a base. Then, an arm section 1 is started to lower, can detecting sections 18 and 18', a center electrode 14, liquid surface detectors 16 and 16', contact electrodes 5 and 5 and a checking electrode 6 begin to come down together with the arm section 1 and continue to do until the lowering of the arm section 1 is halted with a control section receiving a signal from a detecting section 21. A liquid injection tube 12, the liquid surface detectors 16 and 16' and the can detectors 18 and 18' are suspended at the laterally extended part 3 of the arm section 1 so that the distance can be kept almost constant between the open end of the sample can and the tips of the can detectors 18 and 18' and the liquid surface detectors 16 and 16' when the lowering of the arm section 1 is halted regardless of changes in the height of the sample can. In addition, if only the diameter of the open end is the same even with varied height of the sample can, contactors 25, 25 and 25' of the contact electrodes 5 and 5 and the checking electrode 6 can get in contact with the open end of the sample can at the same point. |
