The defoamer is on a base of oxygenic and partly azotic organic compounds. It consists of 25 to 89.8 % by weight of the product of polyaddition of at least one alkylene oxide C2 to C4 to bivalent to hexavalent aliphatic alcohol (diol C12, trimethylolpropane, glycerol, pentaerythritol, dipentaerythritol), 0.01 to 4 % by weight ethylene-bis-alkylamide of at least one carboxyl acid C8 to C22 or alkaline salt (sodium, potassium, calcium) of carboxyl acids C8 to C21. The residue to 100 % is formed by at least one aliphatic alcohol C2 to C12 (C4 to C12) or mixture of alcohols with other oxygenic organic compounds. The defoamer is especially suitable for defoaming in sulphite, such as Mg-bisulphite cellulose plants in the paper industry.
