The solution concerns a tank for liquid metals, mainly an intermediate pontoon ladle for horizontal continuous steel casting. The principle of the solution consists in the fact that between the outer heat-insulating ceramic lining (3) and the inner working heat-resistant lining (2) there is a ceramic accumulation layer (4). The thickness of the outer heat insulating ceramic lining (3) corresponds to 80 to 85 percent of overall temperature gradient between the surface of the working heat-resistant lining (2) and the surface of the steel support coating (1) of the intermediate pontoon ladle. The thickness of the accumulation layer (4) corresponds to 5 to 7 percent of this temperature gradient and the thickness of the inner heat-resistant lining (2) corresponds to the rest of the above mentioned temperature gradient.<IMAGE>
