A belt incorporating a nonwoven material is for drive belts and transport and conveyor belts. The fibre blend of the nonwoven material features 1-10 wt.% of electrically conductive fibres. Pref. the blend contains synthetic and/or natural fibres and/or recycled fibres and the surface resistance is between 100 and 10 power 8 ohm, pref. 10,000-1 million ohm. The fibre blend of the fibre mat may include polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, polyacrylic, cotton, coconut cellulose etc fibres. The electrically conductive fibres contain at least one metal or elemental carbon. A hydrophobic bonding agent can be used, e.g. nitrile-butadiene rubber or styrene-butadiene latex.
