PURPOSE:To obtain the subject porous material having excellent uniformity of the pore size and pore distribution, excellent density and high orientation of the pore, etc., and useful as a filtering material, etc., by electrolyzing a composite material containing carbon fiber in an electrolyte solution, thereby decomposing and removing the carbon fiber. CONSTITUTION:A composite material 3 composed of carbon fibers 1 aligned in one direction and a non-conductive matrix 2 is immersed in an electrolyte solution in such a manner as to contact the solution with two cross sections perpendicular to the orientation direction of the carbon fiber 1. Electric current is passed from one cross section to the other cross section to decompose and remove at least a part of the carbon fiber 1 and obtain the objective porous material. |
