PURPOSE: To provide an intermediate system which can highly efficiently redesignate the communication route between a workstation group and a target system at the session level of a network. CONSTITUTION: An intermediate system 16 physically positioned near a workstation group composed of workstations 28 and 30 redesignates the route of a communication link at the session level of a network 10. The intermediate system 16 operates to connect a plurality of workstations to a network in such a mode that each workstation is directly connected to the network.
