<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of charge/discharge capacity even after repeated charging and discharging, and to prevent the formation of Li<SB>2</SB>MnO<SB>3</SB>and LiMn<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>accompanying local segregation of lithium and manganese, by distributing lithium and manganese evenly. <P>SOLUTION: As a positive pole active substance for a lithium secondary battery, a lithium manganese oxide composed of lithium, manganese and oxygen is used. The crystal structure of the lithium manganese oxide is a spinel structure. The molar ratio Li/Mn of lithium to manganese is 0.7 to 0.9, and the average valence of manganese is 3.8 to 4.0. Moreover, BET specific surface area is not less than 10 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and the average secondary particle size is ≤50 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
