An inflatable cushion, useful in particular to form the back of vehicle seats, is connected by a pipe to a pump and may be selectively inflated by the pump with a flow medium. The flow medium may be evacuated from the cushion through at least one opening. The opening is kept always open and the maximum amount of flow medium evacuated through the opening per unit of time is smaller than the maximum amount of flow medium delivered by the pump by unit of time.
