A display device and a control method therefor are provided to attenuate noise and embody optimal image quality by judging the receiving strength of a broadcasting signal on the basis of a noise level sensing result and differently adjusting an image quality adjustment value of a scaler according to the receiving strength of the broadcasting signal. A signal processing unit(20) includes a scaler(40) for converting a format of a broadcasting signal into a format capable of being displayed on an output unit(50). The scaler has a sharpness adjusting unit(44) for adjusting the sharpness of the broadcasting signal. A control unit(60) senses a noise level of the broadcasting signal received through a tuner unit(10). If the broadcasting signal is a weak signal, the control unit sets an adjustment value of the sharpness adjusting unit as a certain level or less. If the broadcasting signal is a strong signal, the control unit sets the adjustment value of the sharpness adjusting unit as the certain value or more.
