PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition technology which can easily check whether or not the recognition result of a numeral is correct and whether or not a wrong numeral is entered when a document is prepared. SOLUTION: A digital copying machine has an OCR part 31 which recognizes a character string included in a display area extracted from an image, a spread sheet computation part 34 which computes numerical value data generated by converting a character string of numerals according to a computation expression defined according to the specific character string, and a proving part 35 which compares the computed value of the spread sheet computation part with numerical value data to be proven. When the computed value does not match the numerical value data as the object of the proving, a control part 26 notifies the user of that.
