PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having an impedance conversion circuit in a slider. SOLUTION: The magnetic head includes: an MR element whose resistance value changes according to variation of an external magnetic field; and an impedance conversion section that converts impedance of a signal output from the MR element and outputs the result. The impedance conversion section is a matching transformer that, at a primary side, matches impedance to output impedance of the MR element, and, at a secondary side, matches impedance to input impedance of an amplifier that amplifies an output signal of the MR element.
