<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique useful for further accelerating thinning of a thin wire-like titanium compound. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A solution containing a titanate is subjected to a pressurizing and heating treatment in a magnetic field to make a needle compound of the titanate grow into a thin wire shape. Magnetic lines 11, 21, 31 may be stopped with respect to a pressurized and heated treated liquid and may be rotated with respect to a pressurized and heated treated liquid. A magnetic flux density of the magnetic field is, for example, ≥1T. In addition, the solution containing the titanate is, for example, a mixture of titanium oxide and alkaline solution. It is preferable that the solution containing the titanate is subjected to a pressurizing and heating treatment in the magnetic field, and then is contacted with a protonic acid, so as to have a hydrogen ion index (pH) of 0-1.2.
