<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which minimizes user's burden when replacing a unit. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming device 2, a cartridge 56 which individually detachably hold a plurality of units 26Y to 26K arranged in a prescribed direction can be pulled out of a device body 3 along the prescribed direction by a user. The device is provided with; a detection means for detecting that the lifetime of some unit has expired; mechanisms 60, 62, 64, 66, and 70a to 70d which control an extent to which the cartridge can be pulled out of the device body by the user; and a control part 68 which controls the control mechanisms on the basis of a detection signal from the detection means to control the extent to which the cartridge can be pulled out of the device body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
