PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method capable of preventing or suppressing a change of tension of a belt generated by reciprocating movement of a pressing roller.SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes: a transportation mechanism section having a flexible endless belt 53 transporting a work-piece W; a printing mechanism section 13 applying printing to the work-piece W transported by the endless belt 53; a support plate 56 supporting the endless belt 53 from an opposite side to the printing mechanism section 13 and being movable in a thickness direction of the endless belt 53 in a state of supporting the endless belt 53; a pressing roller 61 being provided in a transportation direction of the work-piece W and in an opposite direction thereto in a reciprocating movable manner and pressing the work-piece W against the endless belt 53; and a support plate 63 supporting the endless belt 53 from an opposite side of the pressing roller 61. Further, the support plate 63 is constituted to be movable in the thickness direction of the endless belt 53 operatively associated with the support plate 56 such that a top face 631 and a top face 561 of the support plate 56 are positioned on the same plane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
