<p>In a piston machine, that functions as a fluid pump or motor, of the kind in which rotary inner and outer cylindrical piston members (1, 2) of different sizes are rigidly interconnected by a barrier member (4) so as to be rotatable about their common longitudinal axis (6) and a third cylindrical piston member (3) of an intermediate size is rotatable between the members (1, 2) about an off-set axis (5) with edges (9) of the third member (3) sealingly but movably contacting opposite sides of the barrier member (4) and said member (3) sealingly contacting (7, 8) both the member (1) and the member (2), the first and second members (1, 2) are fixed to a rotary plate member (19) and the third piston member (3) to a rotary plate member (20), the piston members (1, 2) and the plate member (19) are caused to rotate by driven motion of the plate member (20) and third piston member (3), the substantial sealing engagement between the free edges of the piston members (1, 2, 3) and the surfaces of the plate members (19, 20) involving orbital rubbing motion which greatly reduces wear and consequent fluid leakage in these regions.</p> |
