The device is for desk-top coin-operated telephones and possesses, behind the insertion slot (1), a transversely movable coin chamber (2), into which, with the hook switch actuated, engage two pins (8) of a return lever (3) which hold an inserted coin (M). During coin collection, the coin chamber (2) is displaced, and at the same time the pins leave it and the coin (M) falls into the coinbox (5).
