摘要 |
The invention relates to plastic dental prostheses which, owing to their frequently inadequate flexural and torsional strengths, break due to the high load during mastication. According to the invention, these prostheses contain inlays of short (whiskers), long or continuous graphite fibres embedded during production or already in the precursor, which considerably increases their strength, as experiments have shown. Graphite in general and in this fibre form is highly tolerated by the body. The plastic dental prostheses containing graphite fibres of this type can, if necessary, be repaired, which is not the case, for example, when glass fibres are used. In addition to graphite fibres, it is also possible to use other graphite products or high-tenacity polyethylene fibres which are heat-stable up to about 150@C; their colour is the same as that of the plastic. The grey to black colour of the graphite gives the plastic prosthesis a purple to violet colour; if this is a hindrance in individual cases, the graphite fibres can be coloured.
