The mechanism delivers compressible or incompressible media, having a fixed annular housing(1), inside which is a hub-less bladed ring(3), rotated by an external drive mechanism(13). The inner ring surface(4) can be flush with that of the housing, while the blades can be formed by a series of oblique segments forming a spiral pattern round the inside of the ring. Their height can be such as to form a blade-free core area at the ring centre. ADVANTAGE - No hindrance to flow from central shaft, being particularly suitable for ship propulsion.
