摘要 Four components, arranged rectangularly symmetrical with a common optical middle point, of an optical sensor system can be activated as a source and/or receiver. Dispersed and transmitted light measurement is made when one component is activated as a source and two as a receiver. A geometrical equal value measuring combination is achieved by changing the transmitting activity of the remaining fourth component. For two geometrical equal value measuring combinations, all four partial sections defined by the sensor system and crossing the optical paths twice in the same direction are used. Changes in prim. intensity, detector sensitivity and window cloudiness are eliminated by computation. Characteristic values for the dispersing medium are registered. USE/ADVANTAGE - Soot content in diesel exhaust gases while on the move. Exact reference values used to eliminate errors.
