PURPOSE:To realize connection to the other network by means of an X.25 interface without the need of setting a special opposite address by means of call DTE. CONSTITUTION:A gateway device 101 selects a relay line group from a network identification number in the called DTE address of a call request packet from terminal equipments 104-1 to 104-3, eliminates the network identification number in the called DTE address and a prefix, copies an address obtained by adding the network identification number of a self packet exchange network 102 to a call DTE address in a facility field in the call request packet as an extension address, sets the DTE address of a relay line 106 in the connection opposite network in the call DTE address field and calls DTE 105 connected to the other packet network 103 connected by the X.25 interface.
