The fixator has a pedicular screw which is frusto-conical and has a domed top (4) with a fixing gripper (3) with plastics washers (2) and a clamping nut (1). On clamping of the nut, the washers prevent metal to metal contact while rendering the whole assembly solid. The plastics washers can be formed as sleeves and the top is rounded to prevent injury to cutaneous tissues. The washers prevent transmission of vibrations to the interface between the bones and the fixator.
