A device for protection of an electrical object (2) comprises an electric connection member (10) coupled in parallel to the object, said connection member comprising an electrode gap which normally is electrically insulating. The connection member is adapted to establish an electric connection over the object (2) on occurrence of an abnormal condition. The connection member (10) forms an electric closing device comprising members to cause the electrode gap to assume electric conductivity by triggering energy supply to the electrode gap to form a plasma, by means of said energy, in the gap.
