PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the efficient production of a long-chain dibasic acid capable of easily separating the long-chain dibasic acid precipitated with an acid in a short time in a state of low water content. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a long-chain dibasic acid comprises the addition of an alkali to a fermentation liquid containing a produced long-chain dibasic acid to convert the long-chain dibasic acid into a water-soluble alkali salt, the removal of insoluble components, the addition of an acid to the obtained aqueous phase to precipitate the long-chain dibasic acid, the melting of the long-chain dibasic acid at a temperature above the melting point of the long-chain dibasic acid under a pressure to inhibit the boiling of water and the separation and removal of the aqueous phase.
