The machine includes an axle (14), a swiveling commutator (12) and carrier assemblies. The commutator has a bearing surface that supports carbon brushes (16,18). The carbon brushes are disposed over springs (68,70) and against the commutator and are interspersed in the axles (20,22) such that the carbon brushes may swivel.
