An LCD device and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance white brightness by producing white data while maintaining constantly red, green, cyan, and blue colors. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a data conversion unit(221), a gain producing unit(222), a data amplifying unit(223), a gray scale producing unit(224), and a data producing unit(225). The data conversion unit converts three primary color data of an input frame into the first data of four primary colors. The gain producing unit produces a gain from the first data. The data amplifying unit amplifies a gray scale value of the first data in proportion to the produced gain. The gray scale producing unit produces a first minimum gray scale value from the second data of four primary colors amplified in the data amplifying unit. The data producing unit produces the third data of four primary colors using the produced gain and the first minimum gray scale value, and generates W data having the produced first minimum gray scale value.
