A gel type solid electrolyte and a lithium ion polymer secondary battery containing the gel type solid electrolyte are provided to prevent swelling and to improve high temperature storage stability while preventing the deterioration of rate characteristics and cycle characteristics due to the use of a gel type solid electrolyte. A gel type solid electrolyte comprises a base prepared by the polymerization of a mixture comprising an oligomer represented by the formula 1 and a monomer represented by the formula 2; and an electrolyte solution containing a lithium salt which is contained in the base in a form of gel, wherein n is an integer of 2-30. Preferably the ratio of the oligomer and the monomer is 1:10 to 10:1 by weight. Preferably the polymerization of the oligomer and the monomer is induced by adding the mixture of the oligomer and the monomer to an electrolyte solution with a thermal polymerization initiator, and heating it to 40-80 deg.C for the formation of gel after the assembly of a battery. |
