<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reducing a peroxide which can be carried out at a high conversion in a high yield. <P>SOLUTION: The method of reducing a peroxide includes reacting a peroxide with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst containing a transition metal. The transition metals include, for example, titanium, zirconium, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, rhenium, iron, ruthenium, osmium, cobalt, rhodium, iridium, nickel, palladium, platinum, copper, silver, and gold, and from the viewpoint of efficient reduction of the peroxide, group 7-10 metals in the periodic table are preferred. The peroxides include, for example, hydrogen peroxide, an organic hydroperoxide, a dialkyl peroxide, a carboxylic peracid, a peracid ester, and a diacyl peroxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
