The present invention addresses the problem of manufacturing drawn reduced-diameter animal fibers relatively simply and easily while suppressing glare on the surfaces of animal fibers without complicating and upsizing a facility and reducing productivity. In this drawn reduced-diameter animal fiber manufacturing method, first an animal fiber bundle (1) is passed through a swelling and plasticization treatment device (30) to produce a swelled and plasticized animal fiber bundle (5). Thereafter, between an upstream nip portion (10N) of an upstream nip roller pair (10) and a downstream nip portion (20N) of a downstream nip roller pair (20) in side view, the swelled and plasticized animal fiber bundle is drawn while moving in the shape of an S or an inverted S from the upstream nip portion to the downstream nip portion. |
