<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black dispersion that is excellent in storage stability, dispersion stability, marker resistance, and scratch resistance and sufficiently satisfies ink jet discharge property and to provide an ink composition having such a dispersion used therein. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon black dispersion is characterized in that the maximum absorbance difference in the ultraviolet range (200 to 400 nm, an absorbance at 500 nm is prepared to be 0.6) between (A) and (B) is 0.05 or less, wherein (A) is a dispersed carbon black water comprising carbon black and a water-insoluble polymer having an aromatic ring and having P/B ratio of 1 or more and 5 or less and (B) is a product prepared by subjecting the dispersed carbon black water (A) to 6 hours of centrifugation under the maximum G of 20,000 or more, discarding the supernatant, and re-dispersing the precipitated layer in water.
